Frequently Asked Questions - BSN Scholarship

• Must be currently working as a licensed RN at a healthcare facility (full time or part time).
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience preferred (but not required).
• 3.0 GPA from associate’s degree in nursing program preferred.
• Must be currently enrolled in a Baccalaureate (BSN) nursing program or have an active acceptance to a program at an accredited institution. Nursing program must be accredited by Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
• IHF scholarship must be used within one year of scholarship date (at least partially – student may take longer than one year to complete program).

Application Submission Instructions:

Please complete the IHF Nursing Scholarship Application form including Attachments A-F as outlined below. All materials must be compiled in one single PDF document and submitted to IHF’s Executive Director, Corinne Foote, at corinne.foote@ihfoundation.org. 

Required Attachments:

Attachment A – Digital copy of current RN license

Attachment B – Resume (please note if DAISY Award for nursing excellence has been received)

Attachment C – Personal Essay (1-2 pages). Please address the following:

1. How will you complete your BSN degree, including your anticipated timeline for completion, and how will earning the degree advance your professional career as a nurse?
2. Please submit a budget of estimated direct costs to complete your BSN program (tuition, related fees, and books). Please disclose the amount of any employer tuition reimbursement or educational assistance you expect to receive for the BSN program and provide available documentation of the benefit (e.g., employer tuition assistance policy, approval notice, reimbursement statement, or other documentation). The IHF scholarship is intended to supplement employer-provided tuition assistance.
3. Please complete one of the following options:
   • Option A. Student Aid Index (SAI): ______

Attachment D – Transcript from the nursing program that qualified the applicant for RN licensure

Attachment E – Proof of enrollment or acceptance to baccalaureate nursing program

Attachment F – One letter of recommendation from current or former employer

Scholarship will help cover direct educational expenses (tuition). We will adjust each scholarship award to a budget provided by the student based on their tuition and related direct costs. Scholarship awards are capped at $10,000. Recipients are responsible for consulting a tax professional regarding any tax implications.

Scholarship will be paid by IHF directly to the school, program or university and will be applied to qualified educational expenses (tuition, required fees, and books).
